Ballerina Kay Kay

So for as long as we can remember whenever we ask Avery what she wants to be when she grows up she says: A ballerina! It wasn't even a question..she was/is always so serious when she says it. Well we weren't quite sure how this would work. Never wanting to discourage but always wanting to be realistic we just let it go and thought she would change her mind or forget. Well, she didn't. So when our local dance place ran a special for beginners age 3-5..we were all over it! I have never seen Avery so excited in her life. I got her a ballet outfit from target but was unsure what shoes she would wear because she would need to wear her braces for this. So we had a pair of shoes that hadn't been worn yet and we used those the first time. But while at ballet class the first day we tried on some ballet shoes and they worked with her braces. It completed her! Avery was thrilled she could wear real ballet shoes like everyone else. Avery has had 3 classes now and is in love. She asks every single day when she wakes up...I have ballet? We can't go in the room during class because it would be a distraction so I have not seen what they are working on. So this last time Avery wanted Daddy to take her...and the teacher let the parents in:( I was sad..but he took a video(below) This is something we honestly thought she would never ever do!! GO AVERY KAY! I love your determination!

All "EYES" on me!

March 19, 2014. A visit to see her Ophthalmologist,  Dr. Roarty, at Children's Hospital. Her vision is the same as last year. She has some nearsightedness in her right eye but nothing he is too concerned about. He compared it to adults who would need glasses for night driving. He also said at this age most of her school work is close up so it probably wouldn't bother. In Kindergarten or 1st grade when she needs to see the blackboard/whiteboard if needed we will do something then. The appointment is a long one because someone(pictured below) had to dilate her eyes and then we waited then we were examined by a student then the Dr. Avery was so big this time. She didn't even need to sit on my lap:(  The lady dilating couldn't believe she didn't fuss when she put the drops in. She said that was the hardest part....I knew then waiting would be the most difficult thing we had to do that day!

Infusion 74, March 12,2014, Infusion 75, March 28, 2014

Wade was here with Avery for #74, I had an appointment. Everything went great he said. No nap but he said she was fine. Daddy and Avery did letter flashcards and Avery had princess soup for lunch. They watched little people movies and lounged :)
Today, Infusion #75 Avery is watching Dora and has already had a peanut butter egg. I did make her eat fruit first though. She knows on infusion days we are suckers and let her eat most anything. She just kept repeating ....candy, candy, candy! So after some more fruit she is eating goldfish crackers. MOM OF THE YEAR let me tell ya!:)
